    National Child Protection Week 3 - 9 September 2006

National Child Protection Week gives all Australians the opportunity to get involved in activities that highlight the need to make our local communities child friendly, thereby providing for the wellbeing of our children.

This year NAPCAN shifts the focus to the children and young people themselves, by providing opportunities for them to play a part in the process. Who better than children know and understand what child friendly actually means, so the challenge for adults during NCPW this year is to ask kid's what they think, and then to take action. By doing this a child friendly process is actually being created: giving children the freedom to express themselves clearly, and be listened to!

For NCPW 2006 and beyond, in order to assist NAPCAN Foundation promote NCPW as widely as possible amongst the Australian Community, so as to encourage ordinary women and men to take responsibility for the wellbeing of children, we are inviting other organisations throughout the wefare sector and business community to join us in NCPW Partnerships.

Invitations, Posters and other resource material are currently with the design team, and will be coming on -line over the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

The evaluation process from NCPW 2005 gave NAPCAN fantastic feedback which has enabled us to streamline our support of anyone organising an activity during NCPW 2006.

In the lead up to NCPW is the Capture a Child Friendly Moment Campaign. Over the months ahead we will publish via our website photos and stories that highlight examples of children and young people actively engaged in their communities whch will inspire and ancourage adults to actively seek out the opinions of children and young people throughout NCPW 2006.
