The Certificate II in Retail is a practical entry-level qualification for the retail industry and is perfect for people who wish to work in a retail sales and service environment at an introductory level.

The qualification delivers competencies in a range of activities and functions requiring fundamental retail operational knowledge and practical skills.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY
The Certificate II in Retail is comprised of fourteen (14) units of competency which will include the following nine (9) core units below:
• SIRXCCS001A Apply point-of-sale handling procedures
• SIRXCCS002A Interact with customers
• SIRXCLM001A Organise and maintain work areas
• SIRXCOM001A Communicate in the workplace
• SIRXICT001A Operate retail technology
• SIRXIND001A Work effectively in a retail environment
• SIRXINV001A Perform stock control procedures
• SIRXOHS001A Apply safe working practices
• SIRXRSK001A Minimise theft

Credit may be given for the skills and knowledge students already have where applicable.

PATHWAYS TO EMPLOYMENT
Once completed, this qualification will provide students with pathways to a rewarding career in sales and customer service in a range of retail operations.

PATHWAYS TO FUTURE STUDY
Successful completion of this course will also ensure that students are eligible to study Retail, Retail Supervision, Retail Operations or Retail Management at Certificate III or IV levels.

GOVERNMENT FUNDING AVAILABLE
The Australian Government is offering to fully subsidise this qualification for job seekers under the new Productivity Places Program. Mission Australia Training Institute is an approved provider of the Productivity Places Program and is offering this qualification at no cost to students.
