What drug is that? DVD
The Australian Drug Foundation has developed What drug is that? A guide to drugs and their effects in response to a need for quality video resources set in the Australian context.
This engaging educational documentary discusses a wide range of legal and illegal drugs commonly used by young people in Australia. Terri Psiakis interviews experts including Dr David Caldicott, paramedic Alan Eade and drug and alcohol counsellor Tina Goodman, and explains the effects of using drugs which affect the central nervous system, including: alcohol, amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine, ecstasy, GHB, heroin, ketamine and LSD.
A booklet to support educators, facilitators and group leaders accompanies the DVD.

Analgesics (painkillers) resource
How drugs affect you: Analgesics (painkillers) pamphlet
by the Australian Drug Foundation
According to the 2004 National Drug Strategy Household Survey:
Just over 3.0 per cent of the Australian population aged 14 years and over had used analgesics for non-medical purposes in the previous year. Females aged 14-19 were the most likely to have used analgesics for non-medical purposes in the previous year (4.2 per cent), closely followed by 20-29-year-old males (4.1 per cent). This made non-medical use of analgesics fifth on the list of drugs used in the 12 months prior to the survey - after alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and ecstasy.
In order to meet an increasing demand for information about the risks and effects of over-the-counter analgesics, the Australian Drug Foundation has developed a new resource in the popular series How drugs affect you. How drugs affect you: Analgesics (painkillers) is a 16-page, DL-sized pamphlet covering the effects of misuse and possible health risks and side effects of analgesics such as aspirin, paracetamol, ibuprofen and codeine.
A single, free copy of the new How drugs affect you: Analgesics (painkillers) pamphlet is available to all DrugInfo Clearinghouse members located within Australia. To request your free copy, telephone 1300 85 85 84 or email your name, organisation and postal address to druginfo@adf.org.au.
