Mermaids is a community cultural development project based at Women’s Health Statewide. Since it started at Dale Street Women’s Health Centre in 1998, Mermaids has run a number of drama, writing and multimedia projects, working largely with young women. This workshop will provide an insight into the ways in which youth workers & health workers can engage young people using the arts to address health related issues. Participants will gain an understanding of the principles of community cultural development and the practice of community arts, peer education and youth partnership accountability.
