There is quite a lot of research information about what mental health professionals and researchers consider effective treatments for depression. But we know very little about what consumers have found to be useful? If you have experienced depression, either now or in the past, we are interested in finding out what helped you.

To do this we have set up an online survey of consumers.

The survey contains questions about what sources of help you have tried in the past and how well they worked. The survey also includes questions about how you are feeling now, what you think about depression and what you believe others think about it. The What Works for Us Project has been approved by the Australian National University Ethics Committee.

The study is being conducted by researchers at the Depression and Anxiety Consumer Research Unit (CRU) at the Centre for Mental Health Research at the Australian National University in collaboration with researchers from other universities around the world.

CRU is staffed by academic researchers who are also consumers.
